Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 1 May 2026
Hanasay is voice-first by design. That choice is what the product is, but it also creates real accessibility barriers we want to be honest about.
The honest limitation
The core exercise loop requires you to speak Japanese aloud and to hear synthetic speech. If you cannot speak, or cannot hear, the product as it exists today will not work for you. We don't want to pretend otherwise. We are looking at non-voice exercise modes for future versions, but they are not here yet.
Our commitment
We aim, over time, to bring the non-exercise parts of Hanasay (the marketing pages, the dashboard, settings, billing, this page) in line with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We are not there yet — the product is in early development — but it is the bar we are working towards.
What works reasonably well today
- Keyboard navigation through the marketing pages and account flow.
- Screen-reader-readable text on the legal pages and dashboard.
- Sufficient colour contrast across the brand palette.
What we know is rough
- The exercise itself is voice-only. There is no text-input fallback yet.
- Audio prompts (Japanese sentences read aloud) do not yet have on-screen captions.
- Some custom interactive elements may not announce their state to assistive technology consistently.
Asking for accommodations
If something is getting in your way, please tell us. We can't promise a fix on a deadline, but we read every message and accessibility problems jump the queue. Email hello@hanasay.com.
